Mayor Lurie recently introduced 7 new pieces of legislation geared toward cutting red tape for building permits in San Francisco, especially for small businesses.

This ordinance is part of the Mayor's PermitSF initiative, intended to streamline permitting and to help small businesses. The ordinance, tied to approval of Ordinance 250541, would eliminate DPW fees for cafe table/chairs, merchandise displays, and various projections from the face of the building into the right of way.

This ordinance relaxes limits on commercial use sizes in some NCD zones, eliminating the need for Conditional Use for larger businesses. It would also allow large spaces to be subdivided in all zones without conditional use, even if the reduced spaces exceed sf limits in that zone.

If approved, this ordinance would allow certain Below Market Rate (BMR) units to be resold at higher prices.

If approved, this ordinance would require large supermarkets to provide 6 months notice to their customers and the City before closing.

If approved, window sizes, materials, design, and operations would no longer be regulated by the Planning Department.

This ordinance reduces fees for office to residential conversions In C-2 and C-3 zones.

This ordinance repeals the Accessible Business Entry Program in San Francisco.

This ordinance allows bars serving beer or wine in the Third Street Alcohol Restricted Use District.

If approved, this ordinance would make changes to the thresholds for sale price and qualifying income for some BMR units.
