UPDATE: This legislation was amended in Assembly on 4-8-26.

AB-2517 was introduced by Assembly Member Calderon and Co-Authored by Assembly member Lackey on 2-20-26.

This bill would require the State Fire Marshal to provide public notice, review, and the opportunity for public comment before designating areas as moderate, high, or very high fire hazard severity zones.
