UPDATE: This legislation was introduced on 2-20-26. it was approved by the Committees on Health and Appropriations. It was passed by the House on 4-9-26 and has been routed to the Senate for review.

AB-2517 was introduced by Assembly Member Calderon and Co-Authored by Assembly member Lackey on 2-20-26.

This bill would require the State Fire Marshal to provide public notice, review, and the opportunity for public comment before designating areas as moderate, high, or very high fire hazard severity zones.
