What is Property Atlas?

Property Atlas provides automated alerts for building permits, inspections, and violations. Our online platform allows your entire team to see what’s happening with your properties at a glance, even if they’re in the field on their mobile device.

Where does the data come from?

We aggregate information from various official city data sources and websites.

Which cities are currently supported?

Property Atlas currently includes full coverage for the city of San Francisco. Oakland will launch next, followed by additional California cities in the coming months.

Who uses Property Atlas?

Our platform is designed for proactive property managers and owners who want to stay on top of tenant complaints and violations and stay ahead of upcoming compliance deadlines for building system inspections and reports. We also help contractors, architects, and other design professions track permits and access critical property information.

How do I get started?

How much does it cost?

Property Atlas is priced per building, with an unlimited number of users per account. See our Pricing page for current details.

What happens after the free trial ends?

When your trial period ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid plan and billing will begin using the credit card on file. You will be charged only for the number of properties saved to your dashboard.

Is there a limit to how many users my team can have?

No. Your organization will have a single account with shared access to buildings. Each team member will have their own login information and can set their own notification preferences.

How do I add my properties?

You simply run an address search and save the property into one of your portfolios. For larger portfolios, we can help import your full list – just contact our team for assistance.

What if I can’t find a property in the database?

City records aren’t always accurate and some addresses may be missing from the city database. If an address you’ve searched for doesn’t appear, try searching for another address at that property.

Using the Platform

How do alerts work?

Any change in a property’s permit, inspection, or violation status, will trigger an automatic email notification and be updated instantly on your dashboard. You can customize which alerts you receive and how often, and each team member can manage their own alert settings so they only receive alerts for the properties they are working on.

What kinds of property information does the tool track?

Property Atlas tracks building permits, property complaints/violations, building inspections, code enforcement actions, and property information details like zoning, height, historic status, etc.

What types of permits are included?

We track all major permit types including planning, building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, street use, and utility excavation permits. The current status is displayed on the dashboard from filing through completion.

What kinds of compliance programs can I track?

Our Compliance Tracker lets you log and monitor renewal dates for key building programs, including: • Elevator certifications • Boiler inspections • Façade inspections (SF Ordinance 1103) • SB 721/604 balcony and exterior inspections • Backflow prevention testing • And so many more…

Does Property Atlas notify me of new city regulations or requirements?

The Property Atlas tool will automatically add any new compliance programs, and they will be immediately available in the compliance section.

Can Property Atlas replace my property management software?

No, Property Atlas isn’t like Yardi or Appfolio. We don’t help manage rent payments, tenant leases, or other financial systems. Our tool complements your existing software by focusing on the building condition specifically – areas most property management software doesn’t cover.

Can I integrate Property Atlas with my existing systems?

What is the “Prequalified Vendors” section?

We don’t just want to alert you about a violation, we want to help you find a contractor to fix your problem. We’ve provided a list of highly qualified contractors across key categories (e.g., fire protection, elevator maintenance, pest control, mold remediation). Each vendor is vetted for reliability and quality, and their contact information is available directly from the app.

Data, Privacy, and Support

How accurate is the data?

Property Atlas pulls directly from official city sources. What the city has, we have, so if there is an inconsistency or inaccuracy, it likely originates on the city side. We flag any inconsistencies and continuously refine our data matching to improve accuracy.

How often is data updated?

Property data is constantly being refreshed to reflect real-time city updates.

Is my account information secure?

Yes. We use industry-standard encryption and authentication protocols to protect your data and account access.

Who do I contact for support?
