SB-876 was introduced by Senator Padilla on 1-6-26.

This bill would require insurers to pay the actual cash value of a structure within 30 calendar days from the date of loss. It would also require insurers to cover the cost of building code upgrades if the structure is rebuilt at its original location. Additionally, the bill would prohibit policies from being issued or renewed unless the insurer offers extended replacement cost coverage equal to 50% above the policy limits for the dwelling and other structures. Further insurance coverage requirements for properties damaged by fire are also included in the bill.
