Inactive: SB 239: Housing Developments: Judicial Proceedings

Updated: Jan 5, 2024

UPDATE: The committee hearings for this legislation were canceled at the request of the author on 4-18-23. No action has been taken since then.

SB 239 was introduced by Senator Dahle on 1-24-23.

This bill would give the office of the Attorney General standing on CEQA challenges for housing development projects and authorizes the court to summarily dismiss any action that was submitted for nonenvironmental purposes.

It would also prohibit additional or subsequent CEQA actions or proceedings and requires that any claims related to CEQA be raised during the public comment period for the project.
