Ordinance 250539: Awnings, Signs, and Gates

Ordinance 250539 was introduced on 5-20-25 by Mayor Lurie and Supervisor Sauter.

This ordinance is part of the Mayor's PermitSF initiative, intended to streamline permitting and to help small businesses. The ordinance includes:

  • Expansion of the Awning Amnesty program to include existing signs and gates that were installed without a permit, or for which permit records do not exist.

  • Includes streamlined processes for permitting to authorize these building elements.
