Ordinance 250537: Place of Entertainment Permits and Amplified Sound Permits

Ordinance 250537 was introduced on 5-20-25 by Mayor Lurie and Supervisors Sherrill and Sauter.

This ordinance is part of the Mayor's PermitSF initiative, intended to streamline permitting and to help small businesses. The ordinance includes streamlining of reviews for permits for Amplified Sound, Games, and Dance Halls including:

  • Increase in fee for One-Time Outdoor Amplified Sound permits (from $435 up to $558)

  • Eliminates the need for DBI to review Place of Entertainment Permits. (Police, Planning, Health, and Fire would still need to review these applications)

  • Eliminates the need for Planning Review for Limited Live Performance Permits and Amplified Sound Permits

  • Requires written notice to residences within 150' where Place of Entertainment Permits are proposed. (previously only leaflet distribution was required)

  • Modifies requirements for One-Time Outdoor Amplified Sound Permits. Sets a limit to no more than 12 days per Calendar Year at the same site. (previously it was limited to 10 days within a 12-month period)
