UPDATE: This legislation was approved and signed by the Mayor on 9-15-23.

Ordinance 230026 was introduced by Supervisor Melgar on 1-10-23.

This bill created a Family Housing Opportunity Special Use District. Within this district, qualifying developments would be exempt from conditional use including demolition and removal/merger of units. These areas cover most of the west side of the city through the Richmond, Sunset, West Portal, Twin Peaks, and into the Marina.

To qualify, projects would require construction of a new 2-unit building with a third detached unit, or new construction of a 3-unit building with a detached 4th unit. Two units would be required to have 2-bedrooms or more.
