Ordinance 250800 was introduced on 7-28-25 by Supervisors Mandelman, Mahmood, Fielder, and Melgar.
This ordinance is a duplicate of Ordinance 250702. It would require buildings undergoing "major renovations" to convert to all-electric. Exceptions to this ordinance include:
Physical infeasibility
Technical infeasibility Commercial food establishments
Office-to residential conversions
Buildings with recent Major systems replacements
(water heating or space heating improvements)
100% Affordable Housing projects.
Major alterations may be triggered where the work area exceeds 50% of the building area and includes a substantial structural alteration or where 2/3 or more of the number of stories walls, partitions, or ceilings are impacted.
