APPROVED: HOT: Ord 220878 Increased Violation Penalties

UPDATE: This legislation was approved and signed by the Mayor on 3-28-23.

Ordinance 220878 was introduced by Supervisors Ronen and Peskin on 7-26-22.

Would increase daily administrative or civil penalties to $1,000 per day (currently $250 per day), and create additional fines for specific violations including:

  • $250,000 for unpermitted loss of residential units through alteration, merger, or demolition.

  • $500,000 for demolition of historic properties without issuance of a demolition permit.
