Inactive: HOT: AB-978: CEQA Challenges to Housing

Updated: Jan 5, 2024

UPDATE: This legislation was referred to the Committees on Natural Resources and Judiciary but no action has been taken since 4-5-23.

AB-978 was introduced by Assembly Members Patterson and Gallagher on 2-15-23.

This bill would require people challenging approval of housing projects on the grounds of CEQA to post a bond of $1,000,000 to cover the costs and damages to the housing project. This bond would only be waived or adjusted by the court upon a finding of good cause against the project.
