UPDATE: This legislation was approved and signed by the Governor on 10-11-23.
AB-1033 was introduced by Assembly Member Ting on 2-15-23.
This bill would allow accessory dwelling units (ADU's) to be sold separately from the primary residence.
If approved, window sizes, materials, design, and operations would no longer be regulated by the Planning Department.
If approved, this ordinance would make changes to the thresholds for sale price and qualifying income for some BMR units.
This ordinance would automatically go into effect if Proposition 33 passes requiring rent control on properties built up to 1994.
