AB 2881: Social Housing Act

AB-2881 was introduced by Assembly Member Lee and is Coauthored by 6 Assembly Members and 2 Senators on 2-15-2024.

This bill would create the California Housing Authority to ensure that social housing developments align with the goals of housing production, achievement of assessment targets, and preservation of affordable housing. The Authority would be composed of appointed members and also members elected by residents of social housing developments. The bill sets forth the duties, requirements, priorities, and goals for the new Authority.


This bill would also establish the Social Housing Revolving Loan Fund to provide zero-interest loans for construction of housing to accommodate a mix of household incomes.
