We met the 1-888-4-Abatement team at one of our monthly PPMA meetings and immediately wanted to learn more. Their company has been handling tough remediation projects across California and Nevada for the past 20 years—and as we got to talking we learned their team members combined have more than 100 years of experience.
1-888-4-Abatement specializes in the unglamorous (but crucial) work of removing hazardous materials from residential homes and commercial buildings—think asbestos, lead and contaminated fire damage contents. They’re among the first calls before a remodel starts, or when contractors uncover something nasty behind a wall during a demolition.
What impressed us most is how they handle surprise discoveries mid-project. Found more moisture in a wall that was outside of the containment area? Their crew will jump in fast, assess the situation, and coordinate whatever demolition or extra work needs to be done, without derailing your whole project’s timeline.
Asbestos? Flaking Lead Paint? Contaminated Fire Damage cleanup and removal? They’ve Seen It All.
If you manage an older building in San Francisco, chances are it contains asbestos somewhere—roofing, insulation, flooring, fireproofing—you name it. And while no one wants to deal with it, the 1-888-4-Abatement team knows exactly how to remove the stuff safely and efficiently. They’re pros at working hand-in-hand with hygienists (CIH), contractors, engineers, and project managers to keep jobs on track and compliant.
They also excel at lead paint removal. “Young children can ingest lead by putting paint flakes in their mouths or chewing on windowsills. When you see flaking lead paint on the side of a home or in the interior of a public building, that is where we come in,” said Rick Boggs, Head of Sales.
“We’ve done lead scrapes where we found lead paint in the floor tiles and wall tiles at childcare centers, schools, and a mental health facility. One of our projects was a lead scrape in San Quentin Prison,” said Boggs.
They’ve seen it all when it comes to contaminated fire damages—a messy, complex category of work involving contaminated fire damage, structural damage and asbestos fibers. Their experience with apartments, office buildings, high rise casinos and residential homes makes them a strong partner when disaster strikes.
Built for the Way Property Managers Work
One of the standout qualities of 1-888-4-Abatement is how well they work with property managers. Whether it’s a large building or a small one, a single owner or a board of stakeholders, they clearly communicate scope, costs, and timelines—then get to work without delay.
“Our 1-888-4-Abatement services are typically brought in as a precursor to starting a home or building remodeling or catastrophe project, and we’re also tapped during the demolition phase, when asbestos or evidence of lead is often first discovered,” said Rick Boggs, Head of Sales.
In short: these folks are battle-tested, responsive, and know how to collaborate. If you're managing a property that’s due for upgrades—or just want someone seasoned and ready when the unexpected hits—Rick Boggs and his team are worth getting to know.
