INACTIVE: Repeal of Portion of the Coastal Act

UPDATE: This legislation was placed in "inactive" status at the request of Senator Huesco on 9-9-21.

AB 500 was introduced on 2-9-21 by Assembly Member Ward.

This bill would repeal a portion of the Coastal Act. Previously, the coastal act was not required to include housing policies and programs. This bill would require local governments to adopt a program specifying streamlined permitting procedures for ADU’s and supportive housing projects. Also, it would require that housing opportunities for persons of low and moderate income be protected, encouraged, and provided in coastal zones.
