INACTIVE: Tenant Evictions: Owner Move In

Updated: Jul 1, 2022

UPDATE: This legislation was placed into inactive status at the request of Assembly Member Wicks on 5-26-22.

AB 2713 was introduced on 2-18-22 by Assembly Members Wicks, Bloom, and Grayson.

This bill would modify just cause terminations of tenants for owner-occupation. Would prohibit owner-move-ins if the same owner or relative already occupies a unit on the property or if there is a separate vacancy on the property the owner could move into. Defines “owner” as owning 51% of the property. Requires owners to obtain permits for demolition or substantial remodel PRIOR to issuing a notice for termination to the tenant.
