HOT: Small Business Recovery Act

UPDATE: Approved and went into effect 8-4-21.

Ordinance 210285 was introduced on 5-11-21 by Supervisors Safai and Mar.

This legislation includes creation of the small business recovery act, including:

  • Expanding streamlined permit reviews and inspections for storefront uses,

  • Elimination of planning definitions for cat boarding, gym, trade shop, and instructional services,

  • Allows conditional uses to continue after 3 years of abandonment,

  • Allows outdoor activity areas on rooftops,

  • Allows catering uses in restaurants,

  • Allows temporary outdoor entertainment activities,

  • Removes conditional use findings in specific cases,

  • Expands expedited conditional use permits,

  • Removes neighborhood notification requirements for changes of use in eastern neighborhood mixed use districts, and

  • Reduces the time the historic preservation commission must request review of minor alterations and certificates of appropriateness to 10 days (from 20).
