HOT: Grants to Convert Shopping Centers to Housing

UPDATE: This legislation is under review. It was approved by the Senate on June 2nd, 2021 and sent to the House. No action has been taken since then. It is not expected to continue toward approval.

SB 15 was introduced on 12-7-20 by Senator Portantino.

This bill would require the Department of housing and Community Development to provide grants to cities/counties that provide land use approval to affordable housing projects in place of idle sites used for big box retailers or commercial shopping centers.
