SB 897 was introduced on 2-1-22 by Senator Wieckowski.
This bill would improve the ADU legislation including:
Increase the maximum height of a rear yard ADU to 25’.
Restricts an ADU from being defined as a change of occupancy.
Prohibits the requirements for sprinklers in the proposed or existing primary dwelling.
Prohibits permit denials for ADU’s because of building standard violations.
Establishes a grant relief program for funding construction and maintenance of ADU and J-ADU units.
