APPROVED HOT: AB 1490: Affordable Housing: Adaptive Reuse

UPDATE: This legislation was signed and approved by the Governor on 10-11-23.

AB-1490 was introduced by Assembly Member Lee on 2-17-23.

This bill would require local governments to approve adaptive reuse projects meeting affordable housing requirements within 30 days or less. Exemptions to FAR and waiver of local building and permit fees would also be required.


Projects would be required to provide 100% affordable units, with 50% designated for extremely low, or very low income households.
