DBI's New Online Permits

As part of Mayor Lurie’s ongoing PermitSF efforts, a new series of permits can now be applied for and approved online. Sick of staring at your phone while waiting in line at city counters? A small (or big!) part of your day just got better.
Fire Alarm and Fire Sprinkler Permits are two of the most recent additions, along with instant permits to replace doors, siding, and windows when replacing in-kind. Special Event permits aren’t available online yet, but there is an online pre-application form to help simplify at least part of that convoluted permit process for street fairs, festivals, and outdoor entertainment events.
We are so excited to see expansion of online permits gathering steam. Remember, online permits are already available for in-kind kitchen and bathroom renovations, as well as electrical and plumbing changes.
Daniel Lurie unveiled the new PermitSF portal back in February, and this new batch of online permits is the first to use the new processing system. The portal was designed to improve permit tracking for both the city and the citizen, and will ultimately capture all building permits. We love to see it - can’t wait for more.
