Chinatown Mixed Use Change

UPDATE: Approved and went into effect 12-5-21.

Ordinance 210600 was introduced on 5-25-21 by Supervisors Peskin and Safai.

Modifies the Planning Code in Chinatown Mixed Use Districts.

  • Allows social service and philanthropic facilities with conditional use.

  • Changes the requirements for abandonment of a use.

  • Allows re-establishment of nonconforming uses under certain circumstances.

  • Changes the use size limits/maximums in the Chinatown Community Business District.

  • Exempts legacy business restaurants in the district from use size limits.

  • Allows lot mergers in the Polk Street Neighborhood Commercial District.
