UPDATE: Passed the Assembly on 5-27-26. Filed as suspended on 8-3-26.

AB-1915 was introduced by Assembly Member Gabriel on 2-12-26.

This bill would require streamlined permit approvals for restaurants replacing equipment like-for-like. Permits would need to be approved within 10 business days. It also makes changes to standards for handwashing facilities, refrigeration units, grease traps, and pass-through window service openings. Also, interior finishes on walls and ceilings of bar areas would be exempt from use of nonabsorbent finishes as well as employee restrooms.
