Suspended: AB 2565: School Facilities: Interior Locks

UPDATE: This legislation was approved by the Committee on Education on 3-21-24. It was then referred to the Committee on Appropriations where it was suspended on 4-10-24.

AB-2565 was introduced by Assembly Member McCarty on 2-14-2024.

This bill would require schools serving pupils from kindergarten to grade 12 to install interior locks on each door in any room with an occupancy of 5 or more persons. These upgrades would be required as part of an addition, alteration, reconstruction, rehabilitation, or retrofit of a school building.
