SB 1091: School Facilities: ADA Requirements for Greening Projects

UPDATE: This legislation was approved by the Committee on Education on 3-20-24. It was approved by the Committee on Appropriations and is scheduled for hearing on 4-15-24.

SB-1091 was introduced by Senator Menjivar on 2-12-2024.

This bill would limit the cost of comply with ADA requirements on school ground greening projects to 20% of the construction cost of the greening project. A "school ground greening project" is defined as a project that uses nature-based solutions for student well-being or learning, and that improves community ecological health and climate resistance." Criteria for these project is laid out in detail in the legislation.
