Ordinance 240807: Operable Elevator Requirements in Residential Buildings

UPDATE: This ordinance was approved by the Board of Supervisors on 10-15-24 was signed by the Mayor on 10-24-24.

Ordinance 240807 was introduced on 7-30-24 by Supervisors Stefani, Peskin, Melgar, Preston, Mandelman, Ronen, and Dorsey.

This ordinance would require all residential buildings with an elevator to ensure that one operable elevator is available at all times. In the past, this requirement only applied to buildings 50' or taller.
