APPROVED: Ord 231221: Citywide Expansion of Allowable Commercial Uses

UPDATE: This ordinance was approved by the Board of Supervisors on 4-16-24 and signed by the Mayor on 4-26-24.

Ordinance 231221 was introduced on 11-27-23 by the Mayor and is co-sponsored by Supervisors Engardio, Dorsey, and Melgar.

This legislation would allow more business types on the ground floor in commercial areas citywide. Changes include:

  • Allowing nighttime Entertainment Uses in the Polk Street NCD

  • Modifications for limited commercial uses within 1/4 mile of the North Beach SUD

  • Permit Retail Professional Services in the North Beach NCD

  • Allow limited commercial uses in Residential and RM Districts (limitations apply)

  • Set operating hours ending at 10pm for LCU's in RH and RM districts
