APPROVED: HOT: AB 1287: Density Bonus

UPDATE: This legislation was approved and signed by the Governor on 10-11-23.

AB-1287 was introduced by Assembly Member Alvarez on 2-16-23.

This bill would grant an additional density bonus of up to 50% for projects meeting affordable housing criteria.


To achieve the maximum 50% density bonus, the project must set aside:

  • 24% to low income households (base density units)

  • 15% to very low income households (base density units)

  • 44% of the TOTAL units for moderate income households (total units)
