UPDATE: This ordinance was approved and signed by the Mayor on 7-28-23.

Ordinance 230732 was introduced on 6-12-23 by the Mayor and co-sponsored by Supervisors Peskin, Safai, and Dorsey

This legislation would facilitate projects converting commercial to residential use in C-2 and C-3 zones. Projects would be exempt from lot coverage, open space, streetscape improvements, freight loading, bicycle parking, and dwelling unit mix requirements. Exposure requirements would be reduced, and live-work units would be permitted. Hearings under CPC 309 would be waived for these projects.

Additional streamlining of permit reviews, sign permitting, and historic preservation reviews would apply to these projects as well.
