SB 312: CEQA Exemption: University Housing Developments

UPDATE: This legislation was approved by the Senate on 1-25-24 and routed to the Assembly where it has been held since 1-25-24.

SB-312 was introduced by Senator Wiener on 2-6-2024. It is Co-Authored by Senator Allen.

This bill would require each building within a university housing development project to obtain LEED Platinum certification no later than 12 months from the issuance of the certificate of occupancy or its usage. Public Universities would be ineligible for CEQA exemptions on future projects until the previous projects all comply with this requirement.
