UPDATE: This legislation is scheduled for a hearing with the Committee on Energy, Utilities, and Communications for April 2, 2024.
SB-1210 was introduced by Senator Skinner on 2-15-2024.
This bill would limit the cost of connection, capacity, or other point of connection charges from a public utility for electrical, gas, sewer, or water service from exceeding 1% of the reported building permit value of that housing unit.
The charges would be required to be issued over a period of at least 10 years from the time the unit is first occupied. Additionally, it would require the utility to prioritize the processing, approval, scheduling, and completion of the new utilities ahead of connections for all other structures.
