APPROVED: Ord 230808: Family and Senior Housing Opportunity SUD

Ordinance 230808 was introduced on 7-10-23 by Supervisors Melgar and Engardio.

This legislation creates the Family Housing Opportunity Special Use District. Within this zone, qualifying residential developments would be exempt from all conditional use, neighborhood notification procedures, and discretionary review for demolition, removal, or merger of dwelling units, unless a project would demolish 2 units that are subject to rent control.


Additionally, qualifying projects would receive increased density:

  • Corner Lots: 6 units per lot or 1 per 1,000 sf of lot area

  • Corner Lots with 3 lot mergers: 18 units per lot or 1 unit per 1,000 sf of lot area

  • Corner Lots with 2 lot mergers: 12 units per lot or 1 unit per 1,000 sf of lot area
