UPDATE: This ordinance is under review. The Planning Commission recommended approval with modifications on 11-9-23.
Ordinance 230808 was introduced on 7-10-23 by Supervisors Melgar and Engardio.
This legislation creates the Family Housing Opportunity Special Use District. Within this zone, qualifying residential developments would be exempt from all conditional use, neighborhood notification procedures, and discretionary review for demolition, removal, or merger of dwelling units, unless a project would demolish 2 units that are subject to rent control.
Additionally, qualifying projects would receive increased density, up to 8 units where 2 lots are merged, and 12 units where 3 lots are merged. Corner lots would be allowed up to 12 units for 2 lot mergers, and 18 units for 3 lot mergers.
