AB 1893: Housing Disapprovals

UPDATE: This legislation was referred to the Committee on Housing and Community Development, amended, and returned to committee on 4-4-24.

AB-1893 was introduced by Assembly Member Wicks on 1-23-2024.

This bill would reduce the definition of "housing for very low, low, or moderate income households" from a percentage of 20% down to 10%. This bill also removes options that would allow for disapproval of an affordable housing development projects. Finally, it also defines the criteria for streamlined, ministerial approval of affordable housing projects in jurisdictions that have failed to adopt an approved Housing Element.
