AB 2597: Housing Element Revision; Southern California

UPDATE: This legislation was referred to the Committees on Housing and Community Development, and the Committee on Local Government on 3-4-24. It has been amended and is still under review by these departments.

AB-2597 was introduced by Assembly Member Ward on 2-14-2024.

This bill would extend the deadline for housing element revisions from 18 months up to 30 months for certain local governments within the Southern California Association that have a compliant housing element. The County of Los Angeles is not eligible for this extension.
