AB 1999: Electricity: Fixed Charges

AB-1999 was introduced by Assembly Members Irwin, Addis, Berman, Connolly, Muratsuchi, Papan, Pellerin, Quirk-Silva, Ting, Ward, and Weber on 1-30-2024. It is Coauthored by 7 other Assembly Members and 2 Senators as well.

This bill would alter the Public Utilities Commission's assessment of fixed electrical charges for residential customers, setting fixed charges that do not exceed $10 per month for customers not enrolled in the CARE program, and $5/month for customers enrolled in the CARE program. This program would be back dated to January 1, 2015 and would allow annual price increases of no more than the Consumer Price Index percentage each year beginning January 1, 2016.
